Petermann & Dorr – PEDO
1945
Foundation in Burg an der Wupper by Walter Petermann and Wilhelm Dorr.
irst of all, in the post-war years, everything what was needed has been produced: like cooking pots, circular saw shafts, consentity closure fittings up to repair work for schools. The real goal: the production of tools – dies, hexagonal nuts and holding tools was fully ramped up after the currency reform in 1948.
1962
Relocation and expansion of production.
1967
The 2nd generation Mrs. Breitfort (née Petermann) enters the operational business
1971
Exhibition at national and international trade fairs.
1977
Expansion of production and buildings.
2003
Specialization of the factory.
2007
Expansion of the product portfolio to 6000 articles. Supply to many large specialist retailers in Germany and Europe.
ZIRA Präzisions Gewinde Werkzeuge
1950/1957
In early 1950 Erwin Zimmermann founded a small production plant for Circular Dies & Die Nuts in Radevormwald. He worked previously in South Africa and finished his engineer masters examination. In this time he worked with two specialized employees. 1957 he prepared the first official price list.
1972
ZIRA is one of the first companies to relocate to the Merbach business park. Due to the expansion of the machine park and deepening of the product portfolio, it is now possible to manufacture all metric and imperial types of threads with 10 employees.
1985
The company is registered in the commercial register under the name ZIRA Erwin Zimmermann.
1990
The handover will be made to the longtime employee Bernd Schreiner. At the same time ZIRA focuses on the production of individual special tools according to drawing or customer request.
2007
Expansion of the standard product portfolio to 6000 articles.
2014
Further specialization by taking up a comprehensive thread repair program.
2017
Handing over to Mr Tobias van Hasselt who will successfully lead the company into the next generation with his many years of experience in the field of precision tools.
2018
Expansion of export share from 10% to 50%.
2019
Successful digitization of the custom-made production process in order to manufacture special tools more flexibly and faster according to customer requirements. New location in Wuppertal with doubling of logistics capacities.
2020
The continuation of the brand PEDO (formerly Petermann & Dorr GmbH & Co.KG) with expansion of competence in the field of thread cutting tools.
2022
Expansion of the product range to 15,000 articles for drilling, threading, countersinking and deburring.
